What's Next
Countdown to November 2007 Election
During the recent public comment period on the draft Roads & Transit proposal, thousands of people shared ideas at open houses, submitted comments by letter or e-mail, or completed online surveys. The Sound Transit Board of Directors and the RTID Planning Committee appreciate the input and will consider it as they finalize the Roads & Transit package.
What are the next steps in the process?
On May 24, the Sound Transit Board unanimously adopted the Sound Transit 2 Plan and voted to place it on the ballot in June. The plan proposes 50 new miles of light rail as well as improvements to commuter rail facilities and express bus services.
The RTID Planning Committee recommended the Blueprint on June 8. On June 25 the King County Counci voted unanimously to place the Blueprint on the November ballot, and on June 27 the Snohomish County Council voted 4-1 in favor of this action. The Pierce County Council will take their vote in early July.
Voters in the RTID and Sound Transit districts will vote on the Roads & Transit package in November.
